KATHINA DAY

Kathina Day is a Buddhist festival which comes at the end of Vassa, the three-month rainy season retreat for Buddhists. It is a time of giving, for the lay devotees to express gratitude to their monastics. Lay Buddhists bring donations to temples, which includes new robes for their spiritual advisors. Singapore Buddhist Mission organizes Kathina Day every year to a large swathe of participants and in this day of merit-making, it is also where the members and lay Buddhists alike remind themselves of the value of gratitude and appreciative joy.
