QING MING MEMORIAL ASSEMBLY
Qing Ming, also known as Tomb Sweeping Day or the Clear Brightness Festival, is a deeply meaningful occasion in Chinese culture dedicated to honoring and remembering ancestors. Observed for over 2,500 years, this festival is rooted in the values of filial piety and respect for those who have passed on. Families gather to visit ancestral graves, sweep and maintain tombs, offer food, incense, and joss paper, and pray for their departed loved ones.
For Buddhists, Qing Ming is also a time to transfer merits to the deceased through chanting and acts of generosity, supporting their well-being in the afterlife and expressing gratitude for their contributions and sacrifices. The festival serves as a reminder of our interconnectedness and the importance of gratitude, compassion, and filial devotion in daily life.
Join Singapore Buddhist Mission for our Qing Ming Memorial Assembly to honour your ancestors and departed loved ones. Take part in meaningful chanting, merit dedication, and collective remembrance as we come together to express gratitude and uphold the spirit of filial piety. All are welcome to participate in this special occasion.
